ArtMonte-Carlo: Third edition April 28 & 29

The third edition of ArtMonte-Carlo will be held at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. The event will welcome 42 carefully selected international galleries of modern and contemporary art.

True to its concept of a rich dialogue between market and institutional circles, the Monegasque art fair will once again offer an extensive program of guest exhibitions: The Musée National du XXème Siècle des Alpes-Maritimes (Chagall/Léger/Picasso), the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Venet Foundation and Genoa's Villa Croce will all be represented. Shanghai's Rockbund Art Museum will be exhibiting an installation by Asad Raza under the glass roof of the Grimaldi Forum.

Artgenève/musique, the section dedicated to music programming in contemporary art, will be taking up residence in Monaco this year, with a vast sound installation by legendary electronic music artist Jeff Mills to be presented in a dedicated space atartmonte-carlo.

Artmonte-carlo is also investing in the Principality with large-scale artistic projects. Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Díez will create a public work of art with a floor painting at the entrance to the Casino de Monte-Carlo, while artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset will present an architectural pavilion on the Esplanade du Grimaldi Forum.

The 2018 edition of Contemporary Art on a Private Boat, a series of exhibitions organized each year on a yacht in the port of Monaco, will be curated by Juliette Desorgues on the theme of hydro feminism.

The new Forum "[c r i s s - c r o s s] / Art Institutions in Dialogue" will take place for the first time atartmonte-carlo and will invite some twenty international museum directors to meet and exchange ideas at the show. "c r i s s - c r o s s] / Art Institutions in Dialogue" is a forum for contemporary art museums, public and private foundations, art centers and non-commercial spaces to foster and develop their professional networks. This initiative will bring together representatives of institutions specifically invited for their interest in this type of approach. The event is conceived as a platform for privileged encounters: it offers the chance to create new inter-institutional links, strengthen existing ones and promote the exhibitions and practices of the invited structures.
