Chinese tourists spent $115 billion abroad in 2017

According to a report published jointly by the China Tourism Academy and online travel agency Ctrip, Chinese tourists made 130 million trips abroad in 2017, with total expenditure amounting to 115 billion US dollars.

These data marked year-on-year increases of 7% and 5%, respectively. While accompanied group travel remains the first choice of many Chinese, independent travel is gaining in popularity, according to the data.

The economic impact of China's mobile population is already being felt around the world, as more and more Chinese choose to travel abroad.

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the number of travelers worldwide will exceed 1.8 billion by 2030. China is considered the world's fastest-growing tourism market, and will play a key role in the sector's development.
